Boot Scraper

A traditional Victorian style of Boot Scraper designed to remove mud and loose debris from boots and shoes at the doorway into the house.  This is an old, tried and tested design combining form and function to produce a piece that has aesthetic value in the Garden/ entrance to the house, but a simplicity in construction allowing it to last and remain useful for many years.

Unlike many of this type our piece has both a spike at each end designed to be stuck into the ground, and pressure plates designed to hold it firmly in position during use and prevent it moving through the soil.  A variant is available where the spikes shown in the picture gallery are removed and which has fixing holes drilled into the pressure plates allowing it to be attached to a hard surface such as stone or concrete, please select the type of surface you wish to attach to from the list of options.  Please note that the fixing holes for a hard surface would be 5mm in diameter countersunk (or different if requested) and we do not supply fixings with this product.

The piece comprises a 7 inch (17-18cm) long blade (not sharp) supported by a pin at each end.  The top of each pin has a scroll to stop the boot slipping off the end of the blade during use, and to remove the potential risk of injury when not in use. Each pin has a spiked end that sticks into the ground by approximately 7 inches (17-18cm) and the scraper is further supported in position by the pressure plates that rest on the ground and prevent tipping.  When fully pushed into the ground the blade sits roughly 2.5 inches (6-7cm) above the surface and the scrolls approximately 4.5 inches (11-12cm) above the surface of the ground.  The piece is brushed and finished with a weather resistant paint.
